OpenStack is a joint project founded by NASA and Rackspace, which develops an open source platform for building public and private clouds. In addition to HP, IBM, Mirantis, Cisco, Dell, Intel, VMware and many others are also working on this project. Examples of successfully implemented OpenStack projects include Cisco Webex, Paypal, NASA and CERN.
