InnoDB is a free storage subsystem for the MySQL database management system. Its main advantage over other storage subsystems for MySQL is that transaction security and referential integrity are ensured via foreign keys.
Innobase Oy, the manufacturer of InnoDB, was acquired by Oracle Systems in October 2005.
The software is dual licensed: For open source applications, it is under the GPL; for non-open source applications, a proprietary license is available alongside.
