Magento E-Commerce is excellently suited for the realization of e-commerce requirements. Many projects have shown that Magento's strengths include the intensive use of the Magento API and the mapping of individual business processes.

Task

Bewital petfood GmbH & Co. KG operates the online store futterklick.de as a manufacturer of pet food. It maintains a separate brand website for each brand. Via the brand website, trial packages are to be offered to interested pet lovers. These "taster boxes" contain food that has been previously determined by the selection of certain criteria (age, weight, activity). These criteria are to be selected via sliders and option switches. By selecting the options, the appropriate product is then to be loaded from the store assortment.

Solution

The existing online store at futterklick.de was extended by 3 additional store views (per brand website). For these store views, customized and reduced Magento themes were designed to deliver a simple page output. Due to the simple page layout, the feed advisor can later be integrated and executed as an iFrame in any external page.

The feed advisor frontend and interface to Magento was developed based on PHP and integrated into the store via the template. The feed advisor module accesses an extended product attribute set via the Magento API, which maps the necessary properties of the feed advisor. The maintenance of the additional attributes is done in the usual product view of the Magento backend.

Advantages

The advantage of this solution is the use of existing systems by customizing the Magento platform. The Magento Checkout and the Magento Customer Pool are located in the same store and therefore the existing processes such as transfer to the ERP system and shipping confirmation can still be used without having to develop an extra interface. Using a central platform makes product maintenance easier for editors.
